Functional Skills Maths Level 2 Past Paper
Here at York Maths Tutors, we make sure our students are prepared for their functional skills maths exam. One key component to an effective revision plan is past practise papers. This article has been created to help you access the level 2 past papers and then how to use them.
The functional skills maths level 2 past papers can be accessed on a number of different websites. It is important that when accessing the papers that you only use the exams from 2019 onward as this was the time when the new specifications came into effect. Therefore any exam papers pre 2019 are much less relevant and may contain questions that are no longer in the exam. The different exam boards all offer their own past papers but as they all use the same government curriculum, there is little to no difference between them. The only real difference is the exam structure, they may have a different number of sections for the calculator and non-calculator sections for instance and slightly different timings. However, they are all still useful to use for revision materials.
Students are advised to go onto the past papers once they have gone through each of the topic areas as they will affect your morale if you do poorly on the past papers. Once each topic area has been covered then we would recommend you start on the functional skills maths level 2 past paper. It is best to complete the mock in timed conditions and see how you get on as timing is an important factor. After completion you can use the mark schemes to help mark the paper or ask your tutor to do this for you. This should enable you to identify your weaker topics to focus on. It is important that you don’t worry too much about the pass mark to begin with and focus more on the past papers as a way to help your revision. Once you have completed a number of mocks you should start to see your mark improve as you approach your exam date.
