New GCSE Maths 9-1 Topics Algebraic Fractions
At York Maths Tutor we are covering the GCSE Maths syllabus each week by looking at individual topics that are prominent in the new GCSE Maths 9-1 course. This week we are looking at algebraic fractions. From having to simplify a single algebraic fraction by factorising to having to use multiplication rules with double fractions, there are many aspects to this topic. In order for students to be confident with this topic they have to have a great understanding of basic algebra and be able to perform all aspects of this. So before a student starts to challenge themselves with different types of algebraic fraction revision, they should first be able to complete the following algebra tasks:
Collect alike terms
Multiply out brackets, single and double
Factorise and recognise the difference of two squares
Simple rearrangement
This is why algebraic fractions are so popular in the new GCSE Maths specifications because they bring together all aspects of basic algebra to make a more challenging question.
For those students who are struggling with algebraic fractions or any aspect of the Maths GCSE, York Maths Tutor can help. We have expert GCSE Maths tutors in York who can help with all aspects of the course. If you are thinking about Maths tuition, think York Maths Tutor.
