At York Maths Tutor we are introducing 'Topic Of the Month' where by we highlight a certain GCSE Maths topic and discuss the challenges students have and the most common mistakes they make.

Today's topic is fractions. A key note to remember is that multiplying fractions is often easier than adding them, which helps student to remember that there are fewer steps in multiplication, simply multiply the denominators and numerators together and cancel down if possible. A common mistake made when subtracting fractions is students sometimes forget to subtract the numerators following cross multiplication or, often if the answer is a negative number, students forget to put the negative sign in front of the answer.

At York Maths Tutor we aim to help all of our Maths pupils. If you would like to enquire about the Maths tuition we have to offer, contact us today!
