Why is GCSE Maths so important?

October 16, 2016

GCSE Maths is considered to be as important as GCSE English, because both are required at a grade C in order to progress onto A Levels and beyond. In addition to this, many employers are now looking at Maths GCSE as a benchmark when judging candidates on academic achievements. GCSE Maths is considered to be one of, if not the most difficult GCSE and our experience across all of our tutoring agencies has also shown this. However we have also seen the impact that tuition can have on a student's attainment in their final GCSE Maths exams with significant increases on predicted grades. We have had instances where a student has been in a foundation Maths group in school, having been refused by the school to move them up sets, with parents then demanding that the student sits the higher paper, not having been taught the material in school and still achieving an A grade against all odds. We have also had home schooled students achieve A's and A* in their GCSE Maths exams. At York Maths Tutor we appreciate the significance of passing GCSE Maths with the best possible grade you can which is why all of our York tutors are dedicated to making a real difference.
